HomeOur Process
No mystery and no surprises. Here is exactly what happens from the first phone call through to the day you drive on your new surface — who does what, when, and what we need from you.
Most people have not had asphalt laid before, so they do not know what is normal. Our process is deliberately simple: we look at the site, tell you what it needs, put a price in writing, book a date and turn up on it. You will know who is coming, roughly how long we will be there, and when the surface is ready to use. If anything changes along the way, you hear it from us before it affects the job or the price.

We come out, walk the area, check the ground, the falls and the drainage, and measure up. This is where we work out what the surface actually needs.
You get an itemised quote covering excavation, base, materials, depth and finishing, so you can see what you are paying for rather than one lump figure.
Once you are happy we lock in a date and sort out access, staging and traffic control, so the job fits around your household or your trading hours.
Excavation, base course and drainage first, then the surface laid at the right depth and compacted while it is workable, with edges and joins finished by hand.
We check levels and edges with you, clear the site, and tell you when the surface is ready for foot traffic and when it will take vehicles.

On the day
The crew usually starts early, especially through summer, because asphalt is far easier to work with before the heat builds. First job is setting up — signage and cones, protecting anything close to the work, and marking out exactly where the new surface starts and stops.
From there it runs in order: excavate and cart away, bring the base up in layers and compact it, check the falls again, then lay and roll. Somebody stays on site for the whole job, so if you have a question there is always a person to ask rather than a phone number to ring.
None of it is hard, but sorting these out before the day saves time on site and keeps the price where the quote put it.
A clear run in for trucks and plant on the day. If gates, low branches or a narrow entry are going to be a problem, tell us at quoting stage and we will plan around it.
Cars, trailers, bins and anything else sitting on the area need to be somewhere else before we start, and stay off the new surface until we say it is ready.
A quick decision now and then saves a lot of rework. It does not have to be you standing there — just someone reachable on the phone while we are on site.
If there are pipes, cables, irrigation or a septic system running under the area, let us know roughly where. Avoiding them is a great deal cheaper than repairing them.

A finished surface is the thin bit you can see. What holds it up is everything underneath — the subgrade, the base course and the drainage. Get those right and the surface has an easy life. Get them wrong and no amount of good asphalt will save it.
That is why the prep usually takes longer than the laying. We dig to depth, cart the spoil away, bring the base up in compacted layers and check the falls more than once, because water sitting on a surface is the single most common reason it fails early.

Scheduling
Asphalt and sprayed seal both want a dry, prepared surface. Heavy rain will push a job back, and extreme heat changes how long the crew has to work the material once it is down. Neither is worth fighting, so we watch the forecast and make the call early.
If a date has to move you will hear it from us as soon as we know, not on the morning. The same goes if an earlier job runs long. Rescheduling because of weather does not cost you anything, and we will give you the next realistic date rather than an optimistic one.
Anything not covered here, give us a call on 1300 388 740 and we will talk it through.
Not usually. As long as we have access and somebody we can ring if a question comes up, the crew can get on with it. For the site visit at the start and the walk-through at the end it does help to have you there, so we can point things out and you can ask about anything you are unsure of.
The quote is based on what we can see and test at the site visit. It only changes if something unexpected turns up once we start digging — soft ground, buried rubbish, a drainage problem nobody knew about. If that happens we stop, tell you what we have found and what it means before doing anything about it.
It depends on how busy we are and the size of the job. Small repairs can often be fitted in quickly, while larger jobs need scheduling around plant and materials. We will give you a realistic date when we quote rather than an optimistic one we cannot hold to.

We will tell you on the day, because it depends on the mix, the depth and the weather. As a rule you can walk on it well before you can drive on it, and turning the wheels of a stationary car is best avoided for a while on fresh asphalt. We will spell it out before we leave.
Yes. Spoil and offcuts are carted away, the area gets swept, and anything we moved goes back where it was. We tidy up as we go rather than leaving one big clean-up for the last hour, so the site stays usable while we are there.
Tell us where the site is and what you need done. We will come out, take a proper look and put an itemised quote together, then book a date that suits you.
